The Chicago Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers 59-37 on Sunday, setting a new record for the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history with 96 total points.

The 96 points surpassed the previous Week 1 record of 88 points set by Tampa Bay and New Orleans in 2018. This marked the first time an NFL game ended with a 59-37 score and the most combined points in a game for both franchises. somethingsdifferent.biz

While impressive, the Bears' 59 points fell short of their franchise record of 73 points scored in the 1940 NFL championship game and 61 points in regular season games during the 1965 and 1980 seasons.
