NPFL: Warri Wolves fined ₦6 million for fan misconduct
Warri Wolves have been fined ₦6 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the improper conduct of their fans during the Matchday 36 encounter against Plateau United on Sunday.
According to the NPFL, the club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, which enabled unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas of the stadium. Warri Wolves’ supporters were also charged with engaging in unsporting behavior capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
The fans showed gross misconduct toward match officials, which caused a 10-minute delay during the game.
Sanctions and directives
The club has also been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrator(s) of the incidents and submit evidence of such actions to the NPFL.
As part of the punishment, Warri Wolves will play their remaining home matches this season behind closed doors. The club has 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions.

Drogba set for key role as Tanzania eyes AFCON 2027 success
Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has held high level talks with Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba following his visit to State House in Chamwino, Dodoma, as Tanzania intensifies preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Drogba, a former Ivory Coast national football team captain and Chelsea FC star, is in the country at the invitation of the government, with his visit centered on strengthening Tanzania’s international sporting profile and supporting long term football development.
During their meeting, President Samia formally requested the former striker to serve as a goodwill ambassador for Tanzania ahead of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The move is seen as part of broader efforts to boost the country’s global visibility as it prepares to co-host the continental showpiece.

The two-time Africa Cup of Nations runner-up welcomed the proposal and expressed readiness to work closely with the Tanzanian government in advancing football and youth empowerment initiatives. Hubert Yao: Ivory Coast youngster joins FC Nordsjaelland
Ivorian youngster Hubert Yao has taken a big step towards his burgeoning career, signing a pre-contract with FC Nordsjaelland. The 16-year-old striker will sign a professional contract and join the Danish Superliga in January 2028, when he turns 18.

The talented offensive player comes from FC San Pedro in his native country and has already represented and scored for his country during the U-17 World Cup in Qatar last year.
He is expected in the coming weeks to play at the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations as part of the Ivory Coast’s team in Morocco. The tournament will begin on May 13.
A statement on the capture of the young forward read on the club’s website site.
“Hubert Yao is a great Ivorian talent, whom we look forward to welcoming here at FC Nordsjælland when he turns 18.
He is a tall offensive player who can play both as a striker and on the wing, as he has enormous speed and is very persistent in his game.
“He is good at attacking space and challenging in 1-on-1 situations, and he can also get to the finish and score goals. And he has already made a positive impression on the Ivorian U-17 national team.
It is really good work by our scouting team, and it is important for us that we can continue to attract great talents from West Africa. It is an investment in our future, and we look forward to Hubert Yao being part of it.”
Yao expressed delight over joining the club as he seeks to brighten his corner, starting in 2028.
“I am very happy that it is now confirmed that I will come to FC Nordsjælland when I turn 18. It is a childhood dream come true for me, and both my family and I are very proud of it. I can hardly wait to play my first game for the club.”
The Danish top flight side, affiliated with Ghana-based Right to Dream Academy, are noted for recruiting young players across Africa and turning them into big stars.
