Kaizer Chiefs new signing reveals what Da Cruz told him before making debut
Kaizer Chiefs winger Faiz Abrahams has reflected on his debut for Amakhosi.

Abrahams is currently on loan from Stellenbosch FC, having joined the Soweto giants alongside Langelihle Phili.
The young winger revealed what his coach Fernando Da Cruz told him before making his debut for the Glamour Boys.
“The coach told me to go out there and create chances for us to get back into the game,” Abrahams was quoted on the club’s website.

“I think I made a few opportunities that we might have scored from, so I am quite happy with how I did,” the former Stellies star added.
“We played well enough to win the game but we had a couple of misfortunes which we will definitely work on cutting out going forward.
“It was my first time travelling with Kaizer Chiefs. It felt good to be included and I appreciate the coach’s belief in me. I have worked hard since I arrived and I am grateful for the support I have received and honoured to be playing for this great Club.”
Kaizer Chiefs are third in the Betway Premiership standings after four matches. The have won two and drawn two, and are trailing log leaders Orlando Pirates by two points.
Amakhosi are next in action against Siwelele in a Betway Premiership match.

OPINION: Djokovic can retire as a legend, so why keep hanging on in frustration?
As well as Novak Djokovic has done to keep his career going for as long as he has, we have to ask, why is he still hanging on?
The 39-year-old Serbian icon has established his place as one of the all-time legends of international tennis since he turned professional in 2003, and as well as other male players have done, it’s hard to argue against Djokovic as the greatest of them all.
He is the only man to have won 24 Grand Slam titles, he holds the record for the most Masters titles (40), he has won seven ATP Tour finals, an Olympic gold medal and a Davis Cup title.
He is also the only man to have won every Grand Slam tournament at least three times and he has topped the world rankings for a record 428 weeks during his spectacular career.
And he has been well rewarded, raking in $194 million (R3.1 billion) in prize money over the last 23 years, on top of income from endorsement deals.
So what more can he possibly want to achieve?
Struggling to stay competitive
Djokovic is clearly slipping in the latter stages of his remarkable career, as was again evident when he lost to Argentine player Mariano Navone in the opening round of the US Open on Sunday.
It was the first time since 2006 that Djokovic lost in the first round of a Grand Slam tournament, but what was most concerning was the nature of the defeat.
He was reduced to tears on court, suffering from cramping and nausea, which he admitted he had experienced in almost every match he had played this year.
Djokovic has not won a Grand Slam since 2023 and he has not been world No 1 since June 2024, and though he remains competitive at the highest level, it seems strange that he’s so desperate to keep hanging on.
He could quit today and he would already be widely regarded as the best men’s player the sport has ever produced, and considering how much he is battling just to keep his lengthy career afloat, maybe it’s time to hang up that racket.

Processus électoral : la CENI a transmis le rapport de synthèse au FFKM
Vers un rapprochement décisif dans la préparation de la concertation nationale. Le président de la Commission Électorale Nationale Indépendante (CENI), Thierry Rakotonarivo a conduit, hier, une délégation auprès du président du FFKM, Mgr Samoela Jaona Ranarivelo.
Au menu de cet entretien : la remise officielle du rapport de synthèse issu des ateliers préparatoires organisés par l'organe électoral à la fin du mois de mai dernier. Ces trois journées de réflexion avaient réuni divers acteurs de la société civile et des partis politiques pour poser les premiers jalons d'un dialogue constructif.
En transmettant ces conclusions au Conseil chrétien des Églises de Madagascar, la CENI ne se contente pas de livrer un diagnostic technique. L'institution électorale affiche clairement sa volonté d'épauler le FFKM à chaque étape du grand rassemblement national en cours de structuration.
De son côté, le FFKM poursuit sa démarche de médiation historique en s'appuyant sur ses structures régionales pour recueillir les attentes de la population à la base. L'apport des données et des recommandations de la CENI vise à alimenter les commissions de travail et à éviter de repartir d'une feuille blanche.
L'ensemble des documents remis lors de cette rencontre a été publié sur le site officiel de la CENI, permettant aux citoyens et aux observateurs de prendre connaissance des propositions soumises à la table des discussions.
