Fourie, who turns 40 on 25 September, produced a superb 61-minute stint in the opening match of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry tour at Cape Town Stadium as the Stormers held the world’s No 2-ranked team to 14-14 before going down 38-21.

The openside flank won a game-high two turnovers while making 14 tackles and missing just one.

Stormers director of rugby John Dobson lauded Fourie’s efforts after the match.

“An incredible performance … for a guy who’s again coming back from a serious injury.

“He’s almost 40. He made three tackles in 15 seconds, and two of them were try-saving.

“Deon is remarkable.”

Fourie has earned 13 Test caps since making his debut in 2022 at the age of 35, last appearing against the All Blacks in the 2023 World Cup final, when he came off the bench to play hooker for 77 minutes.

Since then, he has suffered a serious knee injury, an ankle issue, a serious bicep injury and most recently knee ligament damage after a croc-roll by Ulster’s Iain Henderson in May.

Le Paris Saint-Germain a officialisé ce dimanche le retour de Lucas Digne. À 33 ans, le latéral gauche retrouve le club parisien plus de dix ans après son premier passage dans la capitale. L’international français s’est engagé avec le PSG jusqu’en juin 2029.

Pour boucler cette opération, le club parisien aurait déboursé environ 7 millions d’euros. Digne vient ainsi renforcer le couloir gauche avec son expérience accumulée au plus haut niveau.

Formé à Lille, le défenseur avait rejoint le PSG en 2013. Il y avait évolué pendant trois saisons avant de partir en prêt à l’AS Rome, puis de rejoindre définitivement le FC Barcelone en 2016.

Après son passage en Espagne, Digne a construit l’essentiel de sa carrière en Angleterre. Il a notamment porté les couleurs d’Everton pendant plusieurs saisons avant de rejoindre Aston Villa en 2022. Sous les ordres d’Unai Emery, il s’est rapidement installé comme un joueur important de l’équipe.

Ce retour au PSG marque donc une nouvelle étape dans la carrière du Français. Digne s’est montré particulièrement enthousiaste au moment de retrouver le club, évoquant son envie de commencer ce nouveau chapitre et de mettre son expérience au service du collectif parisien.
