Cameroun: remaniement au sommet de l’armée alors que Paul Biya est hors du pays
Au Cameroun, les autorités ont publié des décrets signés par le président Paul Biya actuellement absent du pays. Ces textes nomment 5 nouveaux généraux de brigade, des responsables à la tête des commandements territoriaux des armées et à certaines unités d’élite de parmi lesquelles la garde présidentielle. Par la même occasion, un nouveau major général de l’état-major des armées a été désigné. Des décrets qui verrouillent le dispositif sécuritaire mais qui ont aussi une portée politique.
Schools rugby incidents investigated
The Gauteng and Western Cape education departments are investigating separate incidents that led to two schools rugby matches being abandoned over the weekend.
A Northvaal Cup clash between Menlopark and EG Jansen in Pretoria was called off after a brawl involving EG Jansen players and Menlopark old boys. Parents also reportedly got involved. lebandit.lat
Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile condemned the incident.
“Violence has no place in our schools or on our sporting fields,” Maile told News24. “Every learner has the right to participate in sport in an environment that is safe, respectful and free from intimidation.”
He added that the department was gathering reports from the schools and other stakeholders before deciding whether further action was required.

Meanwhile, the Western Cape Department of Education is investigating an alleged racist incident that brought an end to a derby between Fairmont High School and The Settlers High School in Cape Town.
The match official was heard over the referee communication system alleging that the K-word had been used during the game.
“Racism has no place in any school environment,” Western Cape education department communications director Bronagh Hammond told News24.
She said both schools were following the necessary processes while the department reviewed available video footage.

FIFA : Pourquoi l’UEFA met la pression ? (Nazim Bessol)
Malgré la reculade de Gianni Infantino face à la levée de boucliers de l’UEFA contre son très controversé projet de privatisation de la Coupe du monde, l’instance européenne ne désarme pas. Elle continue d’accentuer la pression, et l’hypothèse d’une destitution est désormais évoquée avec insistance, selon The Telegraph. L’Italo-Suisse, qui a succédé à Sepp Blatter en 2016, est désormais menacé de poursuites judiciaires par l’UEFA, présidée par le Slovène Aleksander Čeferin. Ce dernier semble déterminé à aller au bout de sa démarche et à obtenir le départ de Gianni Infantino avant le prochain Congrès électif prévu en mars 2027 au Maroc.
Selon l’instance européenne, le président de la FIFA doit choisir entre une démission volontaire ou un vote de défiance, conformément aux dispositions de l’article 25 du règlement juridique de la FIFA. Celui-ci stipule que «le Conseil de la FIFA doit convoquer un Congrès extraordinaire lorsqu’un cinquième (1/5) des associations membres en fait la demande écrite», soit, dans les faits, 43 fédérations. Un seuil
que l’UEFA, forte de ses 55 membres unis, dépasse largement.
Une fois la demande formulée, les textes prévoient un délai de trois mois pour la tenue du Congrès, avec un vote des 211 fédérations membres de la FIFA. Le président est alors contraint de démissionner si une majorité simple (plus de 50 % des suffrages valablement exprimés), soit au moins 106 voix, se prononce en faveur de la motion.
Pour l’heure, seule la Confédération africaine de football (CAF), qui regroupe 54 pays, ainsi que les membres africains du Conseil de la FIFA – à leur tête le président de la CAF, Patrice Motsepe, et le Marocain Faouzi Lekjaâ – continuent de soutenir Gianni Infantino. Ils ont rendu publique une lettre de soutien saluant notamment «sa sagesse» après le retrait du très contesté projet FIFA Forward Enterprise.
Un appui toutefois jugé insuffisant, d’autant que rien ne garantit que l’Afrique votera en bloc, contrairement à l’UEFA (55 membres), à l’AFC (47) ou encore à la CONCACAF (41), réputées pour leur discipline collective. Plusieurs voix s’élèvent désormais pour réclamer un sursaut africain et dénoncer une forme de vassalisation du continent.
Si l’UEFA met autant d’énergie à tenter de renverser le président de la FIFA avant mars 2027, c’est précisément pour éviter un vote lors du Congrès prévu au Maroc. Le choix de ce pays n’est pas anodin pour Gianni Infantino, qui ambitionne de briguer un nouveau mandat en terrain favorable, «chez lui au Maroc», comme il aime à le répéter.
Le président de la FIFA pourrait en effet compter sur le soutien des autorités marocaines pour sécuriser l’organisation et le bon déroulement du scrutin, notamment sur le plan de ce qui est communément appelé «la logistique» lorsqu’il s’agira de convaincre les délégués les plus vénaux très tard dans la nuit. Même en cas de candidature concurrente, il bénéficierait donc d’un avantage certain.
De son côté, le Maroc aurait tout intérêt à maintenir Gianni Infantino en poste afin de s’assurer de son appui dans la bataille pour l’organisation de la finale de la Coupe du monde 2030. L’attribution de cette rencontre prestigieuse oppose notamment le royaume à l’Espagne, championne du monde en
titre, dans un duel où Rabat a déjà mobilisé d’importants moyens, notamment en faisant appel à l’agence Havas pour soutenir son lobbying.

WAFCON 2026: Morocco finish top of Group A after stalemate with Senegal – march to quarters
Hosts Morocco finished top of Group A at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026) after being held to a goalless draw by Senegal in a tough match in Rabat on Monday night.
The Atlas Lionesses had the chance to claim a third straight victory in the group, but Senegal goalkeeper Adji Ndiaye produced the decisive moments of the match by saving two penalties in the second half.
Yasmin Mrabet saw her first penalty saved in the 69th minute, and after the kick was ordered to be retaken, Ndiaye denied her again to keep the match level.
The draw took Morocco to seven points, enough to finish ahead of Algeria, who beat Kenya 2-0 in the group’s other match to secure second place and qualification for the quarter-finals.
Senegal ended third with four points, while Kenya finished bottom without a point.
For Morocco, it was not the perfect finish they wanted in front of their home supporters, but Jorge Vilda’s side remain unbeaten and have still not conceded a goal in the tournament.
Morocco control but cannot score
Morocco had already qualified before kick-off, but the match still carried importance.
The hosts wanted to complete the group stage with a perfect record after earlier wins over Kenya and Algeria, while Senegal needed a strong result to keep their own qualification hopes alive.
Morocco started with Ghizlane Chebbak back in the starting line-up and looked to impose themselves through possession and movement in midfield.
The Atlas Lionesses had more of the ball and created openings, with Chebbak, Sakina Ouzraoui and Elodie Nakkach all involved in Morocco’s attacking play.
But Senegal defended with discipline and denied the hosts clear space in the final third.
The first half ended 0-0, with Morocco frustrated by a compact Senegalese side determined to stay in the contest.
Ndiaye delivers penalty drama
The key moment arrived midway through the second half.
Morocco were awarded a penalty in the 69th minute, giving them the chance to break Senegal’s resistance.
Mrabet stepped up, but Ndiaye guessed correctly and saved.
The drama continued when the penalty was ordered to be retaken.
Mrabet took responsibility again, but Ndiaye produced another save, completing a remarkable double stop and giving Senegal a huge lift.
It was the defining passage of the match and one that ensured Senegal remained alive until the final whistle.
Morocco continued to push after the missed penalties, but Senegal’s defence stayed organised and Ndiaye’s confidence grew.
Vilda turns to bench
Vilda made several changes as Morocco searched for a late winner.
Fatima Tagnaout and Najat Badri were introduced in the 72nd minute to add freshness and creativity, while Soukaina Ouzraoui later made way for Saoudi in stoppage time.
Senegal also made changes, with Mame Moussa Cissé’s side trying to protect the point and find moments on the break.
The Lionesses of Teranga had chances to threaten, but they could not seriously trouble Morocco’s defence often enough.
The closing stages were tense, with both teams collecting bookings as the match became increasingly physical.
But neither side could find a breakthrough.
Hosts move on as group winners
The draw means Morocco complete the group stage with two wins, one draw, five goals scored and none conceded.
That defensive record will encourage Vilda as the tournament moves into the knockout phase.
The hosts will now face the runner-up from Group B in the quarter-finals, with the group still involving Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Tanzania and South Africa.
For Morocco, the result was a reminder that knockout football will demand sharper finishing and greater composure in decisive moments.
But the bigger picture remains positive.
They have topped their group, stayed unbeaten and kept three clean sheets.
Algeria also advanced after their win over Kenya, making it a successful group finish for North African football.
Senegal leave the group stage with pride after holding the hosts and showing strong defensive organisation.
But the night belonged to Morocco’s qualification as group winners — and to Ndiaye’s unforgettable double penalty save.
